Where do we operate?

Our solutions are present worldwide, with direct deployments conducted by our specialists in over 90 countries. The company’s headquarters, development centre and data centre are located in global company Łódź, Poland. We have offices in Paris and London. Since 2016, we have also conducted business via our subsidiary (MakoLab USA, Inc.) in Tampa, Florida. And since 2017, we have also been developing new technologes via our MakoLab location in Lublin.

Since its founding, the company has been growing at a consistent pace. Because we are a public entity, our finances are transparent and freely accessible. Our revenue in 2019 equalled 43,4m PLN, 74% of which originated from exporting our services. We are one of Poland’s largest independent digital agencies.

What are our standards of work?

Working for globally operating companies, we can readily apply any regulatory requirements for project management or information security. MakoLab has been implementing the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001:2014 standards through its everyday working practice, which is confirmed by our Integrated Management System Policy.

MakoLab SA is accredited for compliance with the information security management system as per PN-ISO/IEC 27001:2017. This means we are able to certify that we provide data processing security in all areas of our offered services and solutions. What is more, MakoLab is also a a TISAX-standard accredited company. This means that we are able to certify that we provide top data processing security within the cooperation with the automotive leaders. The MakoLab TISAX accreditation can be verified by ENX Association. 

Growing our businesses, we are aware of the impact our activities have on relations we keep, society and environment we function in or initiatives we take. And we head towards the highest, officially accredited working culture standards awarded to us according to the Ecovadis CSR guidance and ratings.

What are our subjects of innovation

We are among the pioneers and leaders in developing and deploying Semantic Web solutions in Poland, which continues to influence the digital market across multiple fields. Our experts, including the company’s founder Mirek Sopek, PhD , are involved in many organisations and think-tanks such as the schema.org standard, which establishes the development direction for the modern Web.

Close cooperation with Hepp Research GmbH, represented by the world-renowned Semantic Web expert, Professor Martin Hepp, resulted in the development of MakoLab’s “Car ” extension for schema.org, officially implemented in schema.org 2.0.

The following edition, schema.org 3.0 brought the implementation of fibo.schema.org extension – the financial ontology FIBO, developed by EDM Council and MakoLab – as the project leader.

The works of our laboratory of innovation have brought the launch and the development of LEI.INFO – a web application dedicated to storing and presenting the information hidden under the unique Legal Entity Identifier (LEI). The app is based on GLEIO – the ontology for entities identification, built by MakoLab and awarded by the top global expert forums.

Identification and the connected data security is also the focus of constant research and Blockchain technology development - in MakoLab applied in the area of building trusted identification systems. Constant research run in this field have resultetd in building a new invention - GraphChain (a blockchained Graph Database). 

MakoLab – history in a nutshell
Founding of the company under the name Mako Typesetting – specialising in high-end print and publishing services.
The company is renamed to MakoLab and begins sales operations in the field of scientific applications, as well as other areas of software.
Development operations begin in the field of advanced scientific software. Makolab commences cooperation with HyperCube (Canada/SUA) and Fujitsu Kyushu System Engineering (Japan).
Internet services enter the company’s offering. The creation of websites, including one of Poland’s first banking portals for Bank PBG is begun.
Beginning of operations of the company’s own Data Centre.
Commencement of cooperation with Philips; design of a website for Philips Lighting Poland and creation of MakoCRM – a system for the management of international projects and loyalty programs.
Cooperation with Renault begins with the creation of Intranet and Extranet solutions for the corporation’s Polish department. In the next few years websites for Renault Polska (2002), Renault Austria and Renault Switzerland (2004) were developed.
Creation of MakoLab’s original solution RSI-CMS for Renualt, deployed and continuously extended in over 60 countries around the globe. MakoLab’s first ERP-class distributed business system is created for Point-S: MegaSale/MegaManage (later known as Fractus).
Commencement of cooperation with RCI-Banque in the area of financial simulators.
Creation of ColDis, a system supporting the management of large shopping centres, deployed to 12 of Poland’s biggest shopping centres managed by Cefic.
Makolab’s debut on the NewConnect market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange in Warsaw on December 21st, 2007.
Creation of the website for Renault UK with LMT and e-commerce modules, distinguished in the Auto Trader Website Usability Study (part of the renowned Guardian Media Group) as the best website in the automotive industry.
Deployment of MakoLab’s original system Fractus 2.0.
Commencement of cooperation with Hepp Research GmbH in the field of the GoodRelations ontology application in e-commerce and the beginning of an extended offering including semantic functionalities.
Partnership with Sitecore and the realisation of international projects in the USA (NuSil) and Lithuania (PZU Lietuva). Founding of the joint venture Chemical Semantics Inc. in Florida (USA).
Commencement of cooperation with Digitas LBI in the project of a global change in the identification and online communication methods of brands belonging to Renault-Nissan.
Development and publishing of MakoLab’s “Car” extension for schema.org.
Commencement of cooperation with Toyota Financial Services Europe and Africa Region in the area of financial simulators.

The development of schema.org extension for the Finance industry, based on the financial ontology FIBO – Mirek Sopek, PhD being the leader of the international team of experts.

Strengthening the teams abroad and the launch of another Polish MakoLab site - Lublin Delivery Center, concentrated on R&D projects.
